My congregation had 3 young folks in their early twenties that left over the course of the 'pandemic' (all separate instances; one threatened suicide and so wasn't disfellowshipped)

Single Pretty Girls that are JWs, have so much potential, but sadly........
by pistolpete inthe pandemic has made the situation worse for single young jw girls.. i'm hearing tons of sad stories of single jw girls who are going, or have gone into deep depression.
with many having thoughts of committing suicide and hoping for a better life in the new order.. the pandemic has made it almost impossible for young jw girls to find a suitable marriage mate.
especially since the single jw boys-men want young, gorgeous, thin, virgins, who look like models and summit to the headship arrangement.

Do JWs now allow some gambling?
by mickbobcat ini had seen a video evens did where he said that jws now say if you gambling for entertainment its ok. anyone have any link to the cult actually in print or video saying this?.

I believe the Elders book also says that celebrating a birthday is also not a disfellowshipping offense, but current articles still use the phraseology that JWs 'do not' gamble or celebrate birthdays. So in practice, nobody will dare to do it... kind of like growing beards.

Headship and WT's Changed Understanding
by Bobcat ini don't think anyone has mentioned that the february 2021 study wt (p. 15, 16; par.
8) changed wt's long standing view on headship within the congregation.
wt used to view all baptized males as being the head of all baptized sisters.. this view led to such absurdities as a sister having to wear a head covering on a bible study because her baptized 10 year old son was sitting in on the study with her.

The WT article in question reenforces the practice of head coverings around any baptized male (or unbaptized husband). It says that they are not every sister's head, BUT that it's for organization's sake, so nothing is changed.

"Criminal Minds" quote
by neat blue dog ini was just watching an old episode of criminal minds and there was this description of cults:.
"cults commonly have their own language.
they invent or redefine certain words only the cult members understand.

I was just watching an old episode of Criminal Minds and there was this description of cults:
"Cults commonly have their own language. They invent or redefine certain words only the cult members understand. It's a way of isolating the members from outsiders. It's a very powerful form of thought control."
Ironically, JWs redefine the very word "cult" out of necessity, saying it can only apply to a group with a SINGLE charismatic leader = Therefore, they aren't a cult!

Watchtower caught lying about the real reason Beth Sarim was built
by Diogenesister inanother incredible catch from a you tuber, this time jane doh, who caught watchtower fooling us again, this time over the reasons beth sarim was really built.. of course we knew rutherford lived in beth sarim during the winter (ostensibly because of his poorly chest🙄).
however even we didn't guess he blatantly got the poor jws, or bible students as they were, to cough up from the proceeds of their book sales enough to buy him a "cali-fornication" mansion (for he & the girlfriend😜) with absolutely no pretence (at the time) it was for the "ancient worthies".that came later.... how did she know?
because at the time it was built, in the 1920s, watchtower had no belief that anyone was to live on a "paradise earth" - they had not even formulated the concept of a paradise earth yet for the ancient worthies to live on and believed all jws were to live in heaven.

Yeah it's this type of 'research' that undermines the real stuff. Belief in the ancient worthies returning was already a thing in 1918, espoused in the Millions Now Living May Never Die talk.

I don't know, from what I see WT overdosed on false prophecies and abuse coverups, and then cry religious persecution when called out on it.

7/2021 WT Highlights
by neat blue dog in.. darn, the beard trope is back.
bible student has beard, then shaves when coming in the truth.. .
it's also kinda weird that this jw met what looks like his biological brother in the door to door work.

I think JWs have so little experience with beards that even the men don't know how they really grow. If you look at some of the pictures they've used with fake beards sometimes they're downright awkward, no neck coverage, too high on the jawline, etc. -

First off . . .
Darn, the beard trope is back. Bible student has beard, then shaves when coming in the truth.
It's also kinda weird that this JW met what looks like his biological brother in the door to door work. His mother must've gotten around.
Then there's this picture of Eve.
I... like this picture. Not sure why.
Then there's yet another repeat of a popular scripture:
"The day will come when he will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.—Rev. 21:4."
Nevermind that this scripture is an exact parallel of Isaiah 25:8, and that Paul explicitly says that scripture is fulfilled in heaven, and the WT quietly admits that. But don't think about that.
Then there's this logic about why the last days are lasting so long:
"Jehovah knows the best time to end this wicked world. His patience has allowed for the gathering of a great crowd, numbering into the millions ... All of them are glad that Jehovah has endured long enough for them to be born"
Nevermind that millions are born and die every year that only thousands get baptized as JWs. Don't think about that.
Here's a lovely bit of sexism for ya:
"suppose a brother in the congregation gives excellent public talks. We might ask him how he goes about preparing his talks. If a sister is a fine cook, we might ask her for suggestions that will help us to improve in that area."
There's an encouraging memory from a Special Pioneer:
"We would each receive ...$35 ...every month—if we reached the required hours, return visits, and literature placements."
Also from that life story:
"I was invited to serve on the newly formed United States Branch Committee . . . leaving behind Laura’s aging mother . . . Laura’s three sisters offered to help her . . . my brother and his wife, who lived in Toronto, Canada, were caring for my widowed mother . . . We really appreciate the love and care they gave her until her death soon after our arrival in New York"
What a fine example, leaving your parents right before their death because of yet another whim assignment change from HQ.
To close out the magazine another article again tells JWs not to use online dating . . . unless it's Zoom. It says to watch people during the meeting and in the breakout rooms and that somehow suffices. 😐

Sale of kingdom halls
by inbetween09 inwe all know of kingdom halls being sold for the past few years.
recently i ran into an elder from a nearby congo, and he told me, that they were in the process of selling their hall, but sudenly it was paused, and he expressed it like the gb put a stop to all selling projects world wide.
any of you heard about that ?.

You'd think God would've told them to sell high right before covid, then buy back at a discount.
